As a culminating moment to the Chicago Dancemakers Forum’s (CDF) newest program to support and mentor Chicago dance artists, come share in the unveiling of the inaugural Greenhouse Projects, featuring works in development by this year’s five Greenhouse Award recipients: Justin Cabrillos, Joy Davis, Emma Draves, Ginger Krebs and Adam Rose.

With works ranging in many styles and stages of completion, the programs offer a glimpse into the most provocative and promising dance work of the next generation by artists selected through a competitive CDF application process. Works will be offered in a rotation. Please see the schedule below.

This informal evening offers the CDF Greenhouse artists an opportunity to present their creative works in front of an audience and garner feedback, while sharing projects inspired by a wide range of sources, including Butoh, Capoiera, Cyborgs, literature and P.T. Barnum, and classical Indian Dance.

CDF is the only artistic programming forum of its kind, dedicated to nurturing artistic advancement for new dance development in Chicago. Launched in 2003, CDF serves the ongoing need to support the research and development of new directions in dance. CDF achieves these goals via three programs: its well-established Lab Artists Program, which awards $15,000 grants and professional support to a select group of leading dance makers, who possess maturity, excellence, and demonstrate an interest and ability in developing their work in new directions; a new Greenhouse Program, which awards five artists $5000 each for the creation of new work, and paid in-depth support from a mentor of their own choosing; and CDF Public Programs, which facilitate dynamic interactions among a broader dance community by offering free or low cost professional workshops, showings, and critical forums and discussions to the public.
